Chair International Advisory Committee
Electrical and Biomedical Engineering Department,
University of Nevada, Reno, USA
On behalf of the ISMOT-International Advisory Committee and as Founder/Chair of ISMOT, I would like to welcome you all to the 16th International Symposium on Microwave and Optical Technology. For the first time the ISMOT is being held in the country of Samsung, LG and Hyundai-Kia, a country with the highest business R & D activities and highest smart phone ownership in the world. A country making rapid progress through its excellent universities, professors and scientists. The organizers’ selection of the modern Kabiz Conference Hall, Yeosido from June 26-28, 2017 was certainly an excellent choice.
Another significance of 16th ISMOT is that the “International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology (IJMOT)”, which is an online journal is completing 10th anniversary. This is a natural outgrowth of the symposium activities. The website of this new journal is: www.ijmot.com. Come and join the celebration of the 10th anniversary of IJMOT at the occasion of 16th ISMOT. I am pleased to inform you that IJMOT and ISMOT are two main activities of the International Academy of Microwave and Optical Technical (IAMOT), a scientific and technical organization registered in the state of Nevada, USA.
We are very thankful to Professor Wee Sang Park, Symposium Chair, Prof. Sungtek Kahng, Technical Program Chair, entire organizing committee, technical program committee, advisors and volunteers alike, the Pohang University of Science & Technology, Incheon National University, ETRI, KRRI, Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Science (KIEES), the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Nevada, Reno, U.S.A. and all other sponsor, Co-sponsors for organizing and sponsoring the conference. As you all know that Prof. Park has been associated with ISMOT and IJMOT for a long time as an Advisory Committee Member as well as an Editorial Board Member. His services to these entities have finally culminated in the organization of ISMOT-2017 under his leadership in Seoul, South Korea. Now Prof. Kahng is actively involved with these organizations and we are looking forward to some future ISMOT in South Korea under his leadership.
I am sure you all would enjoy the friendly and stimulating atmosphere of ISMOT-2017 along with the Korean hospitality during these three days and would go back with sweet memories of this beautiful developed country. Hope to see you and many new faces during next ISMOT-2019 in Batumi, Georgia.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to join the 16th International Symposium on Microwave and Optical Technology (ISMOT 2017) to be held from June 26 ~ 28, 2017 in Seoul, Korea. Seoul has been the political and economic center of the country throughout its long history and is known for its critically acclaimed pop culture at present. It is also the place where cutting edge technologies meet ancient cultures and traditions, making it one of the world’s top 10 tourist destinations.
The significance of microwave and optical technologies can be witnessed firsthand on a daily basis here in Seoul.
An average 8 out of 10 Seoulites use a simple payment card or cellular phones equipped with magnetic near-field circuits to commute around the sophisticated transportation system which includes subways, buses, taxis and airport shuttles throughout the country. Many of these transportations are provided with ultra-fast wireless communication thanks to extensive fiber-optics networks which will help you with directions, translations and many other needs. Equipped with a small plastic card and a cellular phone, you are now ready to explore the city as a Seoulite!
Over the three days together, we will forge new friendships and strengthen existing ones through lively communications and interactions. We aim to host many of the most brilliant minds stemming from academia, government and industry and I sincerely hope you will be here to join us.
